The 250th Battle of White Plains
October 24th - 25th, 2026
Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Westchester County, N.Y.
This large-scale living history event will take place at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation from October 23–25, 2026, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the engagement at Chatterton’s Hill during the Battle of White Plains. Hosted in cooperation with Revolutionary Westchester 250th and the Brigade of the American Revolution, and supported by Westchester County Parks, the event will also welcome participation from the British Brigade and the Continental Line. Organizers anticipate between 600 and 1,000 living historians, representing both military and civilian impressions. The weekend will feature immersive programming, including daily Tactical Weapons Demonstrations (Saturday and Sunday) recreating key moments of the historic battle, along with narrated public demonstrations and additional interpretive presentations throughout the site. The event is scheduled to align closely with the original dates of the 1776 engagement, enhancing historical authenticity and impact. A full schedule of events, registration details, and public programming information will be released soon. Attendees are encouraged to read more about the featured presentations in the attached materials.
To support participants and ensure a well-run event, the venue will provide extensive logistical infrastructure. This includes approximately 20 cords of firewood, potable water access at multiple locations, and an estimated 300–400 bales of straw for camps and activity areas. Sanitation will be provided through dedicated porta-sans for the Congressional Army camp, Crown forces camp, and sutlers and merchants, with additional public facilities and servicing planned separately. Hay for cavalry units will be supplied based on final horse counts, along with ice delivery, trash and waste services, and designated parking areas for RVs and modern camping. EMT services and on-site security will be in place throughout the weekend, with Westchester County Parks staff assisting in event operations and coordination. Additional details regarding registration, schedules, participant guidelines, and visitor information will be announced in the coming months.
