As preparations continue for the 250th Anniversary of the Burning of Fairfield in 2029, the Brigade of the American Revolution is pleased to partner with the Fairfield Museum & History Center for a special living history weekend on September 5–6, 2026.
The Burning of Fairfield remains one of the most devastating episodes of the Revolutionary War in New England. In 1779, more than 2,000 British, Hessian, and Loyalist troops under General William Tryon landed along the Connecticut coast and systematically destroyed much of the patriot town. Homes, churches, businesses, and public buildings were set ablaze, leaving Fairfield in ruins. The destruction was intended to punish communities supporting the American cause and force General George Washington into a decisive engagement—a strategy that ultimately failed but left lasting scars on Connecticut's coastline.

● 8:00 AM – Morning Camp Activities
● 9:00 AM – Living History Camps Open to the Public
● 11:00 AM – People of the Brigade Presentation
● 12:00 PM – Nooning
● 1:30 PM – Formation of Troops
● 2:00 PM – Tactical Weapons Demonstration
● 3:00–5:30 PM – Living History Interpretation
● 6:00 PM – Participant Dinner & Tavern Evening
All registered participants are invited to gather at the historic Burr Mansion for an evening of fellowship, food, and camaraderie as we celebrate another successful day of living history.
We encourage participants to register early as additional logistical information, participant packets, and the finalized weekend schedule will be distributed in the months leading up to the event. We look forward to working alongside our partners at the Fairfield Museum & History Center as we begin commemorating one of Connecticut's most significant Revolutionary War
events and continue building toward the 250th Anniversary in 2029!
