The Encampment At Chase Farms

September 10th & 11th

Lincoln, Rhode Island

The Brigade announces a return to New England! It’s been a while since the BAR has been in Rhode
Island for a full traditional Brigade event. The encampment will take place at the beautiful 80-acre farm
in Lincoln RI.

The land that would come to be known as Chase Farm was first purchased in 1661 by a Thomas Arnold
per the site sources. In the late 19 th century, the Chase family started a dairy Farm on the property. As
the last dairy farm in Lincoln, it was purchased by the Township to preserve both its historical
significance and open, green space. Most recently, the property served as location and set for Hocus
Pocus II, where an entire Salem-style village was constructed.

The Brigade has been invited by the site host, Hearthside House, to provide an historical experience and
awareness of the up and coming 250 th celebrations of the American War for Independence to the
citizens of Lincoln and Rhode Island as a whole. This will be an expansive public show ranging from
tactical patrols to an 18 th century wedding ceremony on Sunday, where two of our very own members
will be renewing their vows! There will also be guest speakers including John U. Reese and Robert
Geake. And of course, Jollifications Saturday evening as we continue to celebrate our 60 th birthday.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the 54 th regt. as they will be your duty regiment for
theweekend. Members of the 54 th will man the registration table and help with camp set up. Army
Commanders will be Doug Crawford of the 5 th CT Congressional Forces and Steven Gardener of the 54 th
regt. for Crown Forces. Early arrival registration will be open at 3:00pm on Friday with Saturday
morning registration from 7:30am to 9:30am.

Stay tuned for more information and updates and please register as soon as possible so that our hosts
can adequately acquire the necessary supplies such as fire wood, Porta Sans, water, etc.
