Join us as we begin the Brigade's 49th year on the field. Thanks to the membership's passing of the Annual Meeting Date amendment, the Board is able to change the 2011 date from the usual last weekend of April to the third weekend for several reasons, primarily that the last weekend coincides with religious holidays this year. While Board members realize that the 16th and 17th will clash with Battle Road, this April's calendar did not help for better event planning. It's also the beginning of the seasonal year for the Cantonment; let's help them get off to a great start!
Drill, presentations for both military and CCM, musket repairs by Ackermann Arms at the blacksmith shop will take place throughout the weekend. After last years impromptu "People of the Brigade", the Cantonment staff has asked that we incorporate it into our programs. The School will give us an opportunity to gear up for some great events this year; Needham and Liberty Hall will be upon us sooner than you think! As an extra attraction, author Barnet Schecter will sign copies of his book after his lecture. Late Sunday morning, an 18th Century Memorial Service will be lead by the Cantonment staff, all Brigade members and friends of Michael Clark are invited to participate.
Gov. Cuomo has stated that New York State Parks and Historic Sites will not be closed this year, but your support is still needed (and at other sites across the country), so please turn out and lend a hand. See you at New Windsor and don't forget the Annual meeting; be a part of your organization!
