If you don’t want to do demonstrations for and talk to an audience completely interested in military history, and if you don’t want to visit with reenactors of other time periods, including the American Civil War and World War II, DO NOT COME to this event. This event is one of the premiere military shows in the United States, and the B.A.R.’s NorthWest Department is one of the featured attractions. There are five large exhibition buildings full of artifacts for display and sale. Although the primary focus of the show is the American Civil War, there are usually enough items form the Revolutionary War period to keep you drooling for days, as well as a new attraction that began this past show, a building dedicated to World War II and World War I. There are reenactors present from both sides of the Civil War, and World War II (including the only Italian WW II reenactor I ever saw). This is a chance to really examine artifacts (yes, most don’t want to see thousands of military items from the mid-1700’through WW II, if you vendors will allow you to handle items, if you ask politely), and you can purchase them if your pocket book is large enough. The NWD usually does two one-half hour demonstrations on the field provided, and an opening and closing ceremony. If we have enough troops, we will stage a two-sided tactical for the public. There is plenty of time for you to seethe show. If you can not get interested in this show, I am not sure what it will take to get you out in support of the NWD. We do get paid for this show, but before we were involved, many of you were there as spectators, so this is a chance to support the NWD and attend a great show. I hope you will all turn out for this. A mailing for this event will follow in February. Contact Bob Cairns, robtcairns@cs.com, 1919 Yale Ave. NW., Canton, Ohio 44709 (330) 455-9722
